The Karimojong
Traditional pastoralists from north eastern Uganda.

The Karimojong live and die for cattle — the determinant of seemingly everything in a pastoral life. This is what drives many to live as nomadic warriors on the move to find enough water, to increase their herds, to defend their own and to get cattle for dowries. Women often stay at one central settlement called a manyata or ere, where they look over small farms and raise the young children. (http://www.karamoja.com/karimojong.html)

  1. Dear Stephen,

I am a researcher based at the Univeristy of Exeter. I am currently working with Dr David Roesner, based at the University of Kent. Dr Roesner is publishing an academic book on the musicality of theatre. He is very interested in using one of your images. I am contacting you on behalf of Dr Roesner to enquire about permission rights and to explore the possibility of publishing the image in his work.

I would be grateful if I could discuss this with you more. My email is P.S.Lennox@ex.ac.uk

Thank you in advance for considering this request.

    Yours sincerely,
    Solomon Lennox
